December Slower for Taiwanese Companies

Foxconn Technology Corporation posted December sales of NT$18.9 billion ($639 million), down 6.3% MoM but up 250.4% YoY. For the year, turnover reached NT$148.4 billion ($5.0 billion), an 84% increase.

Parent company Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) recorded revenue for December of NT$675.1 billion ($22.8 billion), rising 18.5% MoM and 50.2% YoY. This brought turnover for the year to NT$4.7 trillion ($159.2 billion), up 8%.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company announced December turnover of NT$89.9 billion ($3.0 billion), down 3.5% MoM but up 15.1% YoY. This resulted in record fourth quarter revenue of NT$277.6 billion ($9.4 billion), up 10.1% QoQ, and annual sales of NT$977.45 billion ($33.1 billion), up 3.1%. Although turnover for the year was lower than expected, Q4 was described as “robust” due to strong sales to Apple and Huawei.

ODM Wistron reported sales for December of NT$82.5 billion ($2.8 billion), falling 7.4% MoM but rising 18.2% YoY. Q4 revenue was a record at NT$261.4 billion ($8.8 billion), up 23% QoQ and 24.7% YoY. For the year there was turnover of NT$835.6 billion ($28.3 billion), an increase of 26.3%. December shipments of notebooks and monitors were stable at 1.6 million and 500,000 respectively but TVs saw a drop to 200,000. For the quarter, the company shipped 4.7 million notebooks, 750,000 TVs and 1,550,000 LCD monitors.
