December Small Shipments Up Except for CPT

Small and medium panel shipments for the four main Taiwanese LCD companies we track were 111.272 million in December, up 10.8% MoM and 1.3% YoY.

AU Optronics reported December revenue of NT$25.84 billion ($873.8 million), down 5.6% MoM and 17.1% YoY. This brought sales for the quarter to NT$80.66 billion ($2.7 billion), a fall of 7.7% QoQ and 12.2% YoY. However, turnover for the year was up 3.6% to NT$341.03 billion ($11.5 billion). The company shipped 16.25 million small and medium panels in the month, up 6.2% MoM and 28.9% YoY, and quarterly shipments rose 0.3% QoQ and 31.4% YoY to 28.65 million. Annual panel shipments reached 168.85 million, an increase of 9.7%.

Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) announced monthly revenue of NT$2.72 billion ($91.9 million), down 10.8% MoM and 30% YoY. This brought sales for the year to NT$34.76 billion ($1.2 billion), up 4.9%. CPT shipped 21.99 million smaller panels, down 1.4% MoM and 26.4% YoY.

Hannstar Display recorded December sales of NT$1.76 billion ($59.4 million), dropping 11.7% MoM and 46.5% YoY. The firm shipped 47.142 million small and medium panels, up 20.5% MoM and 6.3% YoY.

Innolux posted December turnover of NT$27 billion ($914.3 million), down 1.1% MoM and 15.9% YoY. This brought Q4 revenue to NT$79.1 billion ($2.7 billion), decreasing 0.5% QoQ and 11.5% YoY. Sales for the year were NT$329.2 billion ($11.1 billion), up 14.7%. Small and medium panel shipments for December were 25.89 million, up 9.4% MoM and 12.6% YoY. This resulted in 73.7 million smaller panels being shipped in the quarter, up 3.1% QoQ, while shipments for the year were 270.78 million, a rise of 20.4%.
