A few months on from the release of Lenovo’s Mirage Solo standalone headset running on Google’s Daydream VR platform, Daydream View is being heavily discounted as companies seemingly wind their stocks down.
When we checked, Verizon was selling the device for under $30, a 70% discount off its recommended retail price. Once stocks are gone, they’re gone, the company has said.
Daydream View operates differently from the Mirage Solo headset, in that it requires a compatible smartphone to be attached to its visor, including Google’s own Pixel smartphone range and newer Samsung Galaxy devices.
Google continues to support the Daydream platform, having recently released a proper version of the Chrome browser for both Daydream View, Mirage Solo and any other Daydream headsets that might be on the horizon.
