Dataxis: LatAm Finished 2017 with 18.2 Million SVOD Subscribers

According to Dataxis, Latin America reached 18.2 million active, paid SVoD subscribers by the end of 2017, an annual increase of 29.8%. This volume of subscribers is equal to 25.2% of total fixed broadband households, which indicates it has more room to grow.

Netflix remained the market leader, increasing its share from 59% to 63%, while Clarovideo from América Móvil took second place with almost 20% of active, paid accounts.

Mexico remains the primary market for the segment, representing 40.5% of paid accounts, whereas Brazil is the fastest-growing market in LatAm in second place, with a 35.1% share. Both markets exhibits high levels of competition, with 20 and 26 providers respectively.
