This SID paper sounded quite interesting as I thought it might address some of the industry discussion around the benefits of a curved display. Alas, I was a bit disappointed as the paper described tests done on a curved sheet of paper and not an electronic display.
Nevertheless, it does add some additional knowledge to the field. In their tests, they had a set up that allowed the observer to adjust the curvature of the display for optimal viewing while looking at several types of images.
The result – of all the images they found a slight improvement for reading text with a curved image. The results of the optimal curvature were quite mixed and they were not able to draw any solid conclusion.
