Could This Be Our First Proper Look at the 2018 iPhone Range?

It’s hardly a secret that Apple is planning to release three new iPhone models this year, having been heavily rumoured for many months now. But thanks to TechCrunch, we are able to take a look at supposed dummy versions of the new handsets.

As we know, reported by sources from the supply chain, three new iPhones that share the notch design of last year’s iPhone X are on the way — two using OLED technology and a cheaper variant retaining the LCD display type of the iPhone 8.

It is believed that the three new iPhones will share a common design with last year’s iPhone X.

Both OLED versions — one with a 5.8″ display, much like the iPhone X, and a larger “Plus” model with a 6.4″ screen — retain their predecessor’s dual-lens primary camera, while the LCD version appears to only have one camera lens, cementing its position as the budget option, despite not having the smallest screen of the trio, at 6.1″.

It is also said that the LCD model will come in a variety of colours, including bright shades like that of 2013’s iPhone 5C, while the second-generation iPhone X and X Plus will come in the standard black, white and gold. Materials used seem to be fairly similar across the range, except the LCD version is believed to feature aluminium borders instead of the stainless steel used in its pricier counterparts.

Price-wise, TechCrunch surmises that the second-generation iPhone X could retail from $899, thanks to a reduction in the device’s bill of materials compared to its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Plus model will be more expensive, at around $999. The LCD version, on the other hand, will be priced nearer to $700.

If Apple sticks to its normal schedule, we’ll know for sure in four weeks’ time. You can read the entire article and see images of the dummy iPhones here.
