What Display Daily thinks: The naming conventions, the branding of TV lines, and the staggered, but stacked, promotions and launches are not unique to TCL, but for a company that is raising its profile and growing its market share, it can be confusing.
What do consumers really get out of the naming conventions and different spec sheets for TVs? Even the AI processor that TCL uses, whatever its origins or core technology may be, has different branding on a regional basis. We live in a world where there is only one platform, the internet, and that disseminates information rapidly and to every corner of the globe. Regional variations in messaging and branding are not only picked up locally but they are picked up by a broad range of news sites and blogs, most of which don’t make distinctions about the localization of branding. So, everything is the same everywhere, but it isn’t.
If you want your TV brand to resonate, you have to consolidate your regional branding into a global brand. Different SKUs and different offers, however localized they may be, can be accounted for in different ways. But, call your product whatever it is. Learn from automakers, particularly luxury automakers who tend to stick to one universal brand.
TCL Unveils International QD-MiniLED TV Line
In an announcement out of Hong Kong, TCL has unveiled its high-end QD-MiniLED TV, the X955 Series, as its flagship model. It boasts over 5,000 local dimming zones for precision lighting, and an impressive 5,000 nits of peak brightness. It’s also powered by TCL’s AiPQ Processor 3.0, and comes in sizes of 85″ and 98″.
Alongside this flagship, TCL introduced the C955 Series, a premium but slightly scaled-down version with 2,000 local dimming zones. It comes in sizes up to 98″. The entry-level C755 Series (or C805 in Europe) delivers 1,300 nits of peak brightness and a 144Hz VRR, and is available from 50″ to 98″.
Outside of the MiniLED TVs, TCL also showcased the P745 4K UHD TV. This model, while more traditional, is still a top-quality option, especially for those seeking large sizes on a budget, and is available in both 85″ and 98″. Only yesterday, TCL had launched a 115″ QD-MiniLED TV in China, and a 98″ LCD TV in the US.
