CJ 4DPLEX, an immersive theater technology featuring moving seats and environmental effects, has signed a new partnership with SM Cinema in the Philippines as well as agreeing to roll-out more seats with PVR Ltd (PVR Cinemas) in India.
4DX has formed a new partnership with SM Cinema, Philippine’s largest chain of cinemas. The exhibitor holds a market share of 50%, operating 320 screens at 59 sites nationwide. In partnership with 4DX, SM Cinema will launch 14 4DX auditoriums, seven of which are expected to open by the end of 2019.
India’s largest multiplex chain PVR Ltd currently operates over 557 screens at 121 properties across 48 cities in India. The extended partnership between PVR and 4DX comes on the heels of a remarkable performance by the first 4DX site, which launched in New Delhi in March 2016, according to 4DX. Through this roll-out agreement, PVR cinemas will retain its position as the largest provider of 4DX in India with 11 theatres. The new roll-out includes the installation of 4DX in PVR Cinemas’ highest grossing theaters in prime PVR locations in Bangalore and Mumbai.
Asia is the biggest market for 4DX, where it is available at 201 auditoriums in 11 countries. Worldwide, 4DX is operating over 40,000 available seats at more than 314 theatres in 42 countries. – CC
