Insight Media has published a White Paper called “Choosing the Right Microdisplay for Near-to-Eye Applications”. It goes through the pros and cons of LCD, LCOS, OLED and microLED devices. The white paper is free to download with registration.
What We Think
Insight doesn’t acknowledge a sponsor and the paper, as you would expect, is neutral and accurate, but it does mention that Kopin has all of the technologies that use a silicon backplane and that are in the white paper. There are other technologies for NTE applications that don’t use that approach.
I remember one of the first technical guides/whitepapers that I produced for MicroTouch in the UK. “Cover all the technologies”, they said. “We have all of the main ones and it will position us as a supplier that doesn’t have a particular angle on which is the best and will be good for our positioning”. I suspect Kopin may have had the same thoughts! (BR)
