Cinno Research in China reported that BOE has done a deal to supply OLEDs for the iPhone 14 and supply could reach 59 million units (around 25% or so of the likely iPhone 14 supply). (LGD and BOE Competing with SDC for Larger Share of iPhone Business) This means a significant bite into the supply chain which has been split between Samsung and LG Display up to now. The displays will have 6.1″ diagonal, the report said.

This would be a significant breakthrough for BOE’s small panel business. We’ll see what the gossip is at Display Week on this topic! Recently, analyst Ming-Chu Kuo said that he believes that Apple will use a new 48 megapixel camera and match the Galaxy A22 in capturing 8K video in the iPhone 14. It could also have an under-display Face ID solution next year after reducing the size of the notch this year. (BR)
