What They Say

Counterpoint Research put out a release highlighting the Chinese smartphone market and said that Honor, the Huawei spin-off, had doubled its sales, going from 7.5% in Q4 2020 to 16.7% in 2021, just ahead of Oppo and moving into second place behind Apple. The US firm also grew its share from 17.1% to 21.7%.

The firm said that Honor had maintained its momentuom and grew 32% in weekly sales during January to reach 17%.

What We Think

The chart shows how turbulent the market was for brands in Q4 in China. That’s a really amazing shift in shares, especially when you consider the supply chain and other logistics challenges. (BR)
