Caterpillar is bringing its first rugged tablet to the market, with a list price of €649 (including tax – $640). The rugged tablet, with a Windows 10 operating system and LTE, was specially developed for those who work in situations and locations in which extremely durable devices are needed.
The tablet is IP67-certified and is waterproof for 30 minutes at a depth of one metre; withstands moisture, sand and dust and fulfils the requirements of Mil Spec 810G. It is drop-resistant up to a height of 1.8 metres; vibration-proof; resistant to liquids, and salt spray and also holds up to extreme air pressure.
The display is an 8″ IPS LCD unit with Gorilla glass and 800 x 1280 resolution. The battery is a 7500 mAh unit and the dimensions are 220 x 143 x14 mm with weight of 650gms. The processor is an Intel Atom Z8350 (Quad-core) 1.44 GHz unit with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Cameras are 5MP and 2MP.
