Counterpoint Research reported on the long term trend in smartphone shipments since 2012, by brand. It points ou that Samsung has been the biggest brand on an annual basis for all that time, but has not been top in each quarter. The firm has had competition from Huawei/Honor and Apple several times and four of the last five years, Apple has got to top position.. This year, in Q2 it was challenged by Xiaomi.
What We Think
Hmmm… In its blog, the firm said “ In Q2 2020 too, Huawei, together with Honor, which was included at the time, managed to ship more smartphones than Samsung”. However, that is not what is shown in the chart. I have reached out to get clarification. If I get it, I’ll add to this article. (BR)
