CAE selects Barco for long-term supply agreement of high-fidelity simulation projectors

Barco, a global leader in visualization technology, announced today that it has been awarded a two-year product supply agreement to provide Barco FL35 WQXGA LED/DLP® projectors to CAE, the global leader in training & simulation for civil aviation and defense forces. The projectors will be used in high-end helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft simulators.

“We are pleased to extend our relationship with Barco, which ensures our continued offering of comprehensive flight simulators with Barco LED projection technology to our existing as well as new potential customers,” says Robert Leclerc, Vice President, Global Engineering, Technology and Operations, CAE. “Barco brings significant value to our solutions, offering the highest quality projection supported by impeccable service by the Barco team.”

A combined reputation for excellence in flight simulation

With a formalized long-term partnership, CAE’s long history of collaboration with Barco will continue and enable the company to take advantage of the latest technological developments at Barco as they occur. Today, CAE offers its CAE 3000 Series of high-end helicopter flight and mission simulators and its CAE 7000 Series of Level D full-flight simulators with Barco FL35 LED projectors on board, ensuring that the highest fidelity training solutions are met for all market segments.

High image quality, low total cost of ownership

The Barco FL35 WQXGA LED/DLP® projector offers the world’s most stunning image with a pixel precision of 2,560 x 1,600, double the resolution, and 50 percent more brightness than any other LED projector. Barco’s unique frame rate processing and integrated adjustable SRP™ Smear Reduction Processing ensures smooth, fast-moving images. With no lamps or consumables and an unmatched 100,000 hour lifetime based on 1,000 ANSI lumens and 24/7 operation, the FL35 offers the lowest total cost of ownership for a projector of its kind.

“This is an important contract for Barco, representing the culmination of a strong, longstanding relationship with CAE over many years,” comments Dave Fluegeman, Vice President Simulation at Barco. “CAE’s investment in Barco is a clear indication that our efforts to keep maintenance costs low and image quality high and stable over time are appreciated. We look forward to continued collaboration with CAE as we deliver and support its world-class training systems,” concludes Fluegeman.
