What They Say
Display start-up Brelyon has teamed up with ZMicro to provide its ‘large display image in a small package’ systems for applications including military vehicles.
Built upon work from the MIT Media Lab, Brelyon’s Ultra Reality technology uses computational wavefront engineering to create a massive field of view (FoV) with true optical depth, generating an immersive panoramic virtual screen that engulfs the viewer without the need for a headset, according to the company.
What We Think
This looks like a good early application for this technology as it solves a potential pain point at (probably) relatively high cost and low volume. I just wish I had had the chance to see it so far! As I have previously reported, display specialists that have told me that they have seen it described the performance as ‘Meh’. (BR)
