BOE to launch MicroOLED panel in 2nd half

What They Say

The Elec reports that BOE has bought deposition equipment for microOLEDs from Sunic Systems after signing a deal in May last year, valued at $225 million. The site reports that Sunic expects equipment for this application will form 40% of its sales in 2021. It accounted for 50% in 2020.

BOE is reported to be ready to ship microOLEDs in the second half of this year from its J/V in Kunming, Yunnan, China with Olightek. (BOE to invest $155 million in a 12-inch wafer OLED microdisplay project)

What We Think

It must be Friday. I couldn’t resist the typo that BOE and Sunic had ‘singed’ a deal and spent several minutes imagining executives reciting clauses from the contract like operatic arias! (BR)
