GizmoChina reported that BOE has made a prototype 55″ QLED ultrahd display, using electroluminescent QD technology. The colour gamut is quoted at 119% of NTSC and 1 million to one contrast.
What We Think
Electrically-stimulated QDs are considered by many as an ‘end game’ for QD displays. There’s a lot to be done to ensure that these work and have a long life, but the technology has the possibility of allowing those with big investments in huge TFT (OLED or LCD) production facilities to create long life emissive displays.
