Biggest Providers of Smaller Panels Fare Less Well in September

Hannstar posted September revenue of NT$2.1 billion ($70 million), a drop of 11.7% MoM and 25.7% YoY. The vendor sold 35.92 million small and medium panels, down 14.9% MoM but up 13.2% YoY.

Chunghwa Picture Tubes announced monthly turnover of NT$3.29 billion ($109 million), up 3.9% MoM and 12.9% YoY, giving year-to-date revenue of NT$25.92 billion ($857 million), a rise of 17.7%. The firm shipped 25.89 million small and medium panels, a decrease of 7.0% MoM and 30.7% YoY.

AU Optronics saw September turnover of NT$29.07 billion ($961 million), down 3.6% MoM and 3.8% YoY. This brought Q3 sales to NT$87.4 billion ($2.89 billion), a rise of 3.5% QoQ and 1.6% YoY, and year-to-date revenue to NT$260.4 billion ($8.61 billion), up 9.8%. The company saw shipments of 16.34 million small and medium panels, up 7.6% MoM and 25.6% YoY, bringing shipments for the quarter to 46.81 million, up 21.1% QoQ and 23.3% YoY.

Meanwhile, Innolux reported sales for the month of NT$26.9 billion ($890 million), down 1.1% MoM but up 1.2% YoY. This resulted in Q3 revenue of NT$79.5 billion ($2.63 billion), a drop of 5.9% QoQ but up 6.7% YoY, and year-to-date turnover which jumped 26.5% to NT$250.0 billion ($8.27 billion). The panel maker sold 26.55 million small and medium units during September, an increase of 1.9% MoM and 40.2% YoY, giving quarterly shipments of 76.06 million, up 28.5% QoQ.
