BenQ Clear in B2B Push

Benq projectors using blending and scalingBenQ has been moving up in projection as well. It was showing the SU917, a 5,000 ANSI lumens projector with 1920 x 1200 format and 12,000:1 contrast. Features include a vertical lens shift and both vertical and horizontal keystoning.

BenQ has developed new industrial designs and one of the new units is the SU964 meeting room projector. Again, resolution is 1920 x 1200 and brightness is 6,000 ANSI lumens with contrast of 8,300:1. Other features are the same as the SU917, but the SU964 has an HDBaseT interface.

The company had a demonstration of a number of its projectors being used with warping and blending to display a continuous image around the top of the booth.

The PX9210 is a new 1024 x 768 (it will also be in WXGA format) projector that will appear in the second half of 2015. The company is also planning the LU90 which is a 1920 x 1200 projector using a laser light source with a phosphor wheel. Much like the PU9730 (BenQ Accepts Competitors’ Lenses, Display Monitor Vol 21 No 38), it has seven different lens options and can accept lenses from NEC and Panasonic. BenQ has gone this route to ease projector replacements for customers.

The LU90 has 7,500 lumens of brightness and 1920 x 1200 resolution. It will accept HDBaseT signals, supports edge blending and can operate 24/7.

Finally, we looked at the UST MH856UST projector which has a 0.33 throw ratio and supports 1080P resolution with 3,500 ANSI lumens. The projector can be used with an interactive pen or with finger touch as an option. We heard that the MH856UST will be launched in Europe, but some markets – like the UK – will not receive it initially, as they are more price-sensitive than others.

Analyst Comment

It will take time, but BenQ does seem to be developing its B2B business and will be a significant player in years to come. (BR)
