Belfast Team Develops Bright Green QDs

A research team at Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, working with the ETH in Zurich, Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology, Florida State University) and the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and National Synchrotron Radiation Research Centre have developed new QD technology based on perovskite materials that are claimed to offer ‘the brightest green’ so far seen from any nanomaterial. It claims 90 lumens/W at 5,000 cd/m² for the material in photoconversion.

The group said that it has found a new photonic process that it is calling aggregation-induced emission (AIE) and that is the basis of the development. There is a paper in Science Advances.
