The BBC has announced it will make all episodes of David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II available on iPlayer, in Ultra HD and HDR.
The BBC is using Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR, as well as the open DVB-DASH protocol, adaptive bitrate streaming, and HEVC compression for its Ultra HD offerings. HLG production can benefit even non-HDR UHD TVs, providing they support wide colour gamut.
Blue Planet II will be available in Ultra HD and HDR on BBC iPlayer, following the conclusion of the final episode on Sunday 10th December.
