Barnfind at Norwegian National Soccer Stadium

Barnfind has installed a new fibre optic transport system to connect the Norwegian Nationals Soccer Stadium in Ullevål. The connection sends uncompressed video directly to TV Norge. As well as sending video back to the broadcaster, control signals can be sent to the stadium.

A couple of years ago at CES, I wrote about a demonstration by Technicolor that showed how a very high resolution camera could be used to deliver content in this way. A director back in the control room can use windowing software to create a view of the content. For example, in the longer term, a Super Hi-vision camera is the equivalent of 16 FullHD cameras. By installing a number of fixed 8K cameras, it might be possible to eliminate the use of outside broadcasting vans. (BR)
