According to news from BAE Systems, its DLE (Digital Light Engine) was chosen by Lockheed Martin to replace the existing HUD with a fully digital version that fits into the existing HUD space on the F-22 Raptor for the US Air Force. According to the release, BAE worked closely with Lockheed Martin to develop this new HUD addressing the long term needs of the US Air Force. Once the new version is developed, BAE expects that it will receive a follow up contract to retrofit all F-22 planes.
BAE has sold over 15,000 HUDs that are being used in over 50 different airplanes around the world. (NH)
