AUO Positive About Results

auo

Along with its financial results, AUO talked to investors and told them that ASPs for LCDs had increased by 2% to $421 per sq. metre, compared to $413 in Q4. CEO and Chairman, Paul Peng, said that the company expects the company’s fabs to remain fully loaded as he expects demand to grow by 2% more than supply this year. However, there are no plans to increase capital expenditure, which will remain at the planned NT$55 billion ($1.83 billion) level.

The company is growing its sales of OLEDs and expects to reach a million per month displays for wearables and smartwatches by the end of the year. LCD TV sales continue to be robust, with average sizes still increasing by around 2″ for AUO this year. On the other hand, demand in Q2 is expected to be down on Q1.
