Digitimes of Taiwan said that Asustek is looking to get out of the tablet business by re-allocating R&D and sales staff to other business areas. Meanwhile, the blog said that Gigabyte is doing the same to re-allocate staff away from smartphones and handset peripherals.
The Taipei Times recently pointed out that changes by the Indian government had weakened Asus’ smartphone market in that country.
