Apple Wins Headset patent

What They Say

PatentlyApple reported that Apple has been granted a US patent for a mixed reality headset with a 3D display that can dynamically focus images directly onto the retina to correct for the different apparent depth of objects in the view. It is intended to get around issues of vergence/accomodation disparity.

The inventor is Alexander Shpunt, who came to Apple when the firm acquired Prime Sense, the developers that worked on depth cameras and whose technology was in the Microsoft Kinect.

What We Think

Of course, just because Apple has a patent, it doesn’t mean it will make something, although this one does look like a good one. (BR)
