What They Say
Nikkei reports that Apple has accepted BOE as a supplier of OLEDs for the iPhone 13 with the Chinese firm shipping small volumes of the 6.1″ display in late September. The firm plans to ramp up volume following ‘a final verification process’. The final qualification, with a focus on the durability of the screens, will wrap up as early as this month, three people with knowledge of the matter told Nikkei Asia. Nikkei said that BOE will share supply of the 6.1″ with Samsung Display. and may supply up to 20% of the volume. There is an ‘optimistic scenario’ that puts this at 40%.

What We Think
While Apple must be really, really keen to get away from its dependence on Samsung, it would not risk reliability or performance of its key product, so this is a great endorsement for BOE. (BR)
