Apple Supplier in Rights Group’s Sights

A Hong Kong-based labour rights group has accused an Apple supplier of exploiting its factory workers.

Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehaviour (SACOM) has said that Lens Technology used forced overtime, withheld wages and risked workers’ health. The report follows undercover work by the group, as well as interviews of Lens Technology employees. Lens Technology makes touchscreen glass.

Allegations include workers going for a month without time off, and Lens Technology failing to pay social security. “Dust, noise, polluted water and chemical substances are common problems on the shop floor”, it added.
