9to5Mac says that Apple is preparing ‘a major new iOS initiative’ known as Proactive, to challenge Google Now. The software will use Siri, Contacts, Calendar, Passbook and third-party apps. It will apparently replace the Spotlight search feature, and will rely on data from various apps to push relevant data to users. Integration with Apple Maps will be built in, to show ‘personally relevant points of interest using an augmented reality interface’.
