Korea’s ET News claims that Apple and Samsung Display have signed an official contract, confirming SDC as the primary flexible OLED display provider for the 2017 iPhone. The firm will supply between 50% and 80% of OLED screens that the company requires. ET News also says that other display makers – including LG Display, Sharp/Foxconn and Japan Display – are battling for the position of second OLED supplier.
OLED-Info points out that ET News’ other claim, that SDC will supply 60,000 panels to Apple per month this year, seems very low and is probably wrong. However, if the source meant substrates, then that number would seem high.
