The iPhone 7, originally released in 2016, saw performance reductions as of iOS 11.2.

Apple is in hot water over the revelation that the company forcibly slows down the performance of older iPhone models over time via software updates. The company maintains that this is done to preserve battery life. However, many consumers believe that the slowdown is a deliberate move to encourage users to upgrade aging devices.

Apple vehemently denies the allegations. As of the next iOS update, due in March, users will reportedly be able to switch off the performance slowing feature.
