Apple Claims 13 Million Units Sold

Apple has announced iPhone 6S and 6S Plus sales of 13 million units over the new device’s opening weekend: a new company record.

Analyst Comment

Although this was up from 10 million last time, this time the sales in the first weekend included China. Further, as Paul Kedrosky, a financial analyst, has pointed out, the number should be viewed in the light of the installed base of Apple iPhones, which is now bigger than it was. The phone is still to roll out in 40 more countries at the beginning of October, including Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain and Taiwan. More countries will follow by the end of the year. (BR)
