What They Say
A YouTube vlogger, Sebastien Ang, took a look at a new VR headset from Arpara, a company that was new to us. The headset is based on dual 2560 x 2560 microOLEDs and he found the headset very small and light – 200gms. The headset has variable IPD and is designed to connect to a PC or other driving system. The headset has just 3DoF and needs a separate for better. It uses pancake lenses rather than fresnel and that reduces visible artefacts.
The specification is in the table below.
What We Think
I’ll save you 15 minutes of ‘Oh Wow, it’s great’. “The OLEDs are black”). It’s light and looks good with no visible screen door effect and works easily with a smartphone. He doesn’t like the tracking, but Arpara is promising an ‘all-in-one’. The plan is, apparently, to offer the headset on Kickstarter. (BR)
