Aoto’s stand was dominated by a curved 1.2mm-pitch LED display, part of the M Series (1mm – 16mm). However, it was not the main attraction.
The most interesting product that Aoto was showing was a 65″ TV, using LEDs instead of an LCD panel. The Commercial LED Display (CLD) had a ‘very low’ pixel pitch, using 8 x 6 tiles. Rather than home use, it is intended for applications such as board- and control rooms.
Aoto will begin selling the CLD soon, for a ‘high-end’ price. It will also be available in 110″ and 130″ sizes.
Just beneath the CLD was a prototype LED tile with a 0.75mm pixel pitch. This was simply a proof-of-concept and is nowhere near production; the LEDs were low quality and black levels were grey – a fact emphasised by the placing of the new tile next to a 1mm-pitch unit. Aoto said that it is using a new “bulb” structure to build the tile.
