AMD’s second quarter net loss widened to $181 million from $36 million a year earlier, while the company’s net loss for the first six months expanded to $361 million from $56 million for the corresponding period of last year. AMD’s turnover in Q2 fell 32.7% to $942 million from $1.4 billion in the second quarter of 2014, and turnover for the year to date declined 32.1% to $1.9 billion from $2.8 billion. The company said that strong sequential growth in its enterprise, embedded and semi-custom segment and channel business was not enough to offset near-term challenges in AMD’s PC processor business, due to lower than expected consumer demand that impacted sales to OEMs.
