Reports from the region state that Xiaomi has a new TV, the Mi TV 2S which is said to be based around a 48″ UltraHD panel. The model was not yet on the Xiaomi website as we went to press. Reports say that the TV will be a smart product based on an MStar 6A928 processor with a Mali T760MP4 GPU and supports UltraHD video at 60fps. Software is based on Android 5.0.
The set is reported to be 9.9mm thick away from the chassis area.
The standard version will cost CNY2,999 (US$483), while a “theatre” edition will be available at CNY3,999 ($644) in China.
This looks very like the LG Display design concept that we reported on from CES LG Display Pushes OLEDs and New LCD Materials, where the frame and panel are supplied by the LCD supplier and the set maker just adds a box containing the processing circuitry. (BR)
