Amazon is offering a discount on LG‘s 55″ EC9300 OLED TV (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 30). As part of a promotion around the NFL Superbowl (2nd February), the TV has been lowered from $3,500 to $3,000.
Starting this month, all new CM- and BM-series monitors from Flanders Scientific will be shipping with new features. These include a video data analyser; CIE scope; new dual-input viewing modes; and BT.2020 colour space emulation.
Fujitsu is releasing four new Lifebook laptops in Japan. The are the U745/K (14″ ultrabook, 19mm thick, 1.55kg); 5935/K (13.3″, IGZO technology, 15.8-hour battery life or 20-hour with optional internal battery in the multi-bay); and two convertibles, the T935/K (13.3″ ultrabook-equivalent, 17.1mm thick, 1.59kg) and T725/K (12.5″, multi-bay design).
Hisense has partnered with Israel’s Kidoz to bring the Kidoz children’s entertainment platform to its smart TVs, tablets and smartphones. Devices with the platform will initially be launched in Latin America, South Africa and the Middle East.
Iiyama has swapped the HDMI inputs for DisplayPort on two of its existing monitors: the B2483HSU and XB2783HSU. The new versions are referred to as the B2483HSU-B1DP and XB2783HSU-B1DP. They are available now, for €170 and €245, respectively.
NEC‘s Multisync MD210C3 LCD monitor has received Food and Drug Administration 510(K) market clearance.
Rohde & Schwarz has developed a video tester that measures interoperability between UltraHD consumer electronics devices. The company says that it is the first such product that offers an integrated solution for electrical measurements of HDMI 2.0 sources. The VT B2380 TMDS time domain analyser reduces test equipment requirements down to a single product. It is available now.
The existing Smart Board 4000 and Smart Board 6000 series from Smart Technologies are being expanded with new sizes. The 55″ and 65″ 4055 and 4065 join the 4000 series, while the 55″ 6055 joins the 6000 series. They share features with existing models. The Smart Board 6055 and 4065 will be available in the USA and UK at the end of January, for $3,500. The Smart Board 4055 will be available at the end of March, for $2,500. According to the Wall Street Journal, Vizio has fixed a flaw in the image processing of its P-Series UltraHD TVs. Excessive sharpness issues have now been fixed with a software patch (v1.1.14). Owners can adjust sharpness as they see fit. In addition, apps from Ultraflix, Amazon and Toon Googles have been updated to enable UltraHD streaming, and the price of the 50″ P-Series TV has been dropped to $800, while the 60″ fell to $1,500.
Volanti has shown The Cube at NAMM 2015 – a video cube using six 21″ LCD displays (each 1920 x 1080). Each display is LED_backlit and uses an IPS panel. Release details have not been shared.
