Alibaba Invests in Nreal

What They Say

Alibaba has invested $60 million in Nreal in a “series C+” round of funding – which follows on from a $100 million round last September that valued the firm at $700 million. The money will be directed to R&D and expansion into new markets. So far, Nreal’s flagship Light AR glasses have launched in South Korea, Japan, the U.S. via Verizon, and through a few European telecom firms.

Nreal’s latest Air glasses were launched in Japan last month. They do not have spatial tracking sensors and are intended for media consumption. (NReal Air Glasses Announced)

What We Think

Alibaba is not a bad investor to have if you want to sell in China. (BR)
