Acer Chooses Freesync

The XG270HU is Acer’s tear-free gaming monitor, set to be released in March. The 27″ unit utilises AMD’s Freesync technology to synchronise the screen’s refresh rate with that of the GPU, eliminating tearing and stuttering.

Especially targeting gamers, the XG270HU has a TN panel with a 1ms response time, 144Hz refresh rate and 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Resolution is 2560 x 1440 and viewing angles are 170°/160°. An LED backlight provides 350 cd/m² of brightness.

Users’ eyes are protected from strain with flicker-free (via DC dimming) and low blue light features, as well as an anti-glare display. The monitor is also able to tilt between -5° and 15°.

The XG270HU uses edge-to-edge glass and has DisplayPort, HDMI (supporting UltraHD at 60fps) and dual-link DVI ports, as well as two 2W speakers. It will be available worldwide in March, for £335 ($520) ex VAT.
