What They Say
We reported last week on an Acer notebook with an AS3D display using LC lenses (Acer Introduces Gaming Notebook with Switchable AS3D). However, the firm also added a couple of AS3D portable monitors with 15.6″ UltraHD displays, the SpatialLabs View and SpatialLabs View Pro. They are both said to have 400 cd/m² of output and 100% of AdobeRGB colour coverage. The difference between the monitor is in the industrial design, with the Pro version having VESA wall mounting points allowing its use in environments such as PoS or showrooms, the firm believes.
Pricing will be released nearer to ‘the summer’ launch.
What We Think
Tom’s Hardware did not think much of the notebook, finding you had to sit at a very precise position and that is not conducive to fun gaming, although when it works ‘it looks great’. It also disliked the large bezel. As the reviewer said:
When it works well, it’s wonderful, but I found that the effect does more harm than good in practice. The 3D hurts my eyes after prolonged exposure.
