Acer has announced that its latest Predator Orion-series gaming desktops feature Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs. (Nvidia Changes the Game in Ray Tracing) A spokesperson said, “The new Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs have reinvented graphics and set a new bar for performance. Powered by the new Nvidia Turing GPU architecture and the revolutionary Nvidia RTX platform, the new graphics cards bring together real-time ray tracing, artificial intelligence and programmable shading”.
The new GPUs were unveiled at a two-day event called the GeForce Gaming Celebration, held at the Palladium in Cologne, Germany ahead of Gamescom 2018.
The new systems feature RGB lighting on the chassis and fans that illuminates in 16.7 million colours with preloaded colour patterns and lighting modes for users to choose and customise through the pre-installed PredatorSense app. A change of lighting scheme can be triggered by custom events — for example, users can set the lighting on the RGB LED fans and bars to follow music played through the app’s music player.
Powering virtual reality apps and supporting upwards of 8K resolution, the 9000 series supports GPUs up to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and processors up to Intel’s Core i9 Extreme Edition, with its 18 cores and 36 threads.
The 5000 series supports GPUs up to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2080 GPU. Meanwhile, the 3000 series supports GPUs up to the GeForce RTX 2070. Both support processors up to Intel’s 8th Gen Core i7. All of the new Predator Orion systems can be configured with up to 32 GB of Intel Optane memory and up to 64 GB DDR4 RAM.
