According to a new report by ABI Research, logistics will continue to be the industry leader in augmented reality for enterprise.
ABI estimates that logistics will account for 24% of smart glass shipments worldwide, having been one of the first industries to embrace the technology. Sales of smart glasses to logistics companies is predicted to generate revenue of $52.9 million in 2017 and is expected to grow to $4.4 billion by 2022.
Smart glasses allow logistics employees to perform tasks hands-free, eliminating the need for printed lists and instructions, and increasing their comfort, safety and efficiency. Two companies that have implemented AR in their day-to-day business, DHL and General Electric, have both seen significant performance improvements using smart glasses from hardware partners Vuzix and Google, in conjunction with software platforms from Ubimax and Upskill.
