DVB-T2 to ensure longevity of European DTT industry

What They Say

RapidTV News reported from Dataxis on the use of DTT in Europe for TV consumption and said that 30% of European homes (91 million households) still rely just on FTA channels despite the growth of streaming. 28 countries now use DVB-T2 for terrestrial broadcasting with Poland, Italy, and Spain completing their transition to DVBT-2, in 2022. 20% rely on FTA DTT, while 10% still use FTA satellite broadcasts.

What We Think

As I’ve often said, Europe has an immensely complex TV broadcast ecosystem. The availability of FTA still means that you have to include tuners in TVs. Even the ‘streaming only’ Sky Glass has an (almost concealed) antenna input.  (BR)
