Holoride wants you to use VR in your Audi

What They Say

Holoride of Germany has done a deal to supply an HTC Vive Flow VR headset, a game controller, and an additional safety strap, as well as one year of access to Holoride’s software catalogue, for a total of €699 as a ‘Pioneer’s Pack’ to be sold with some 2023 Audi cars. The company plans to extend to other games headsets and vehicle brands in the future, Protocol said.

Holoride spun out of Audi in late 2018.

What We Think

I was sceptical about the human factors issues that could exacerbate motion sickness problems (which can cause problems for many car passengers. However, the reports I have seen so far from those that have tested the systems suggest that mapping the content to the actual motion might mean that this is not a major issue.

As parents everywhere will know, long car journeys can be a real strain on relationships and anything that helps reduce the boredom should be welcome – although with three children in my family, I’m not sure I would have been prepared to spend more than €2,000 for one each and I know anything less would have been an issue! BR)
