What They Say
Invidis reports that the new Energy Saving Ordinance from the German Federal Ministry of Economics has banned the use of DooH signs and digital signage except between the hours of 4pm and 10pm. There are exclusions on safety grounds for lighting systems and regularly illuminated advertising media at passenger shelters (or waiting rooms), stops and railway underpasses, which are to be treated like street lighting for reasons of operational safety and public order.
What We Think
The regulation is, of course, a reaction to the difficult conditions in Germany with the reduction and likely further reduction in the supply of Russian gas. Hmmm.. I’m off to Berlin today for IFA. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds over the next few days. The Ku’Damm is going to look a bit different later at night, I think! (BR)
