What They Say
The BBC reported that conjoined twins in Brazil were successfully separated with the surgical team in Brazil being joined by specialists in London connected to the operating theatre using virtual reality. The operation took twenty seven hours and was complicated by scar tissue from a previous operation. The surgeons were informed by CT and MRI scans that were used to create VR images of the twins.
What We Think
My friend, Alfred Poor, publishes Health Tech Insider and so I pass quite a lot of medicine-related articles his way as they pop up in the more than 100 news sources that I check every day. It’s amazing how much is going on in the area and the speed of progress. There is so much going on in this area of VR and surgery that he has, more or less, stopped reporting on it as it’s getting pretty well established. It will surely get even more established as 5G and other technologies boost bandwidth and minimise latency. (BR)
