What They Say
The Information’s Reality Check newsletter reported that a ‘string of executives’ have left Magic Leap in the last few months, including a number that joined earlier in the year after the arrival of Peggy Johnson, once of Microsoft, as CEO. Two had worked at Microsoft and another long term employee left. In total, the newsletter names seven executives that have gone this year. They are:
- Tracey Trewin, Chief Product Officer
- Anuj Gosalia, Chief Software and Cloud Officer
- Randall Hand, VP of Cloud Products
- Yannick Pellet, Senior VP of Software & User Interface
- Paul Greco (Chief Technology Officer),
- Henk Vilestra (Chief Operating Officer) and
- David Lundmark (Chief Patent Officer)
The newsletter said that it was unclear if executives that had left have been replaced.
What We Think
Hmm, even allowing for ‘The Great Resignatton’ effect, this is starting to look like something of an exodus. It would not be surprising if some long term staff had gone as Magic Leap has been through a major re-alignment of its business strategy to focus on the markets that are available now, such as medicine, rather than on the grand consumer vision of the early days.
