Sigmaintell of China sent us its latest data and forecast for LCD pricing for TV applications. The company continues to see pricing drop, most heavily in percentage terms at 50″ which is forecast to drop $12 from $123, which is just under 10% between October and November. Larger sizes dropped by $13, but that’s 6% at 65″ and 4.1% at 75″.
Trends to restock have declined after the peak production for the holiday season and TV brands are currently conservative in re-stocking.
What We Think
Why wouldn’t you be conservative about re-stocking when prices are falling so rapidly. Set makers have to balance very delicately – buying just enough to keep the channels satisfied, but no more. (bp – the firm’s website was not working when I looked just before publication) (BR)
