What They Say

The Elec reported that Apple has given conditional approval to supply OLEDs for the iPhone 13 series. The paper said that a small order has been placed but with an allowance of time to meet the requirements. The panels are being made on the B11 line at the plant in Sichuan, China.

BOE has received approval to supply panels for refurbished iPhone 12, the paper said, and is now also manufacturing panels for new iPhone 12 phones,. BOE supplies 6.06-inch OLED panels for the standard iPhone 12 it continued.

What We Think

Samsung continues to have a strong lead in OLED manufacturing, but BOE has done a remarkable job in getting as far as it has, as quickly as it has done, so the gap may reduce. (BR)
