Protocol newsletter reported that Facebook has acquired the patent portfolio from the failed Daqri venture. (Behind the Daqri Failure) The rights were initially sold to RPX Corp which sold them on to Facebook. The article reports that Daqri sold ‘over 700 units’ of its headset.

Protocol thinks that the patents may have been bought by Facebook to avoid them being in the hands of a patent troll. (BR)
